COPD is the most common chronic lung disease in the world, affecting 64 million people worldwide. More than 70% of those affected do not know that they suffer from COPD. In world affects 10% of the population there are more than 2 million affected but more than 1.5 million do not know. It is potentially deadly it kills one person every 10 seconds in the world.

The main cause of COPD is tobacco smoke (active and passive smokers). Other risk factors include air pollution, both indoors and outdoors, and inhalation of dust particles and chemicals in workplaces. The diagnosis for the presence of COPD is confirmed by a test, which measures the amount and speed of inspired and exhaled air.
