What can cause pain in the left shoulder to raise the arm?

There are many injuries that may occur in the shoulder joint. The shoulder is a complex joint that allows movement in different directions. You use your shoulder and arms constantly throughout the day cleaning, lifting and to get around generally . There are also many sports and hobbies that require a lot  of  left shoulder movement. Depending on the injury you suffer, it is possible that certain movements can be painful to raise my arm.

Identification
The shoulder has three bones: the scapula, clavicle and humerus. The top of the humerus bone fits into a cavity in the shoulder. This socket is called the glenoid. Ligaments connect bones to bones and shoulder tendons connect the bones of the shoulder to shoulder muscles. Also located in the shoulder rotator cuff. This is a group of muscles and tendons that form a sleeve or glove around the front, back and top of the shoulder to help stabilize the joint. As these muscles contract, they pull on the tendons of the rotator cuff, which allows the shoulder to rotate upward, inward or outward.
