Every now and then, a new diet craze comes to the market that everyone decides to try. While diets can be a great way to get healthy, doing a diet without knowing everything about it can actually be detrimental to your health.
One of the latest crazes in the diet world is the juice diet, or juicing. While juice diets have their benefits, it’s very important to know how to handle the juice diet correctly in order to ensure you do it safely.
The following are the dos and don’ts of juice diets.
Do: Prepare yourself.
Juice diets (or juice cleanses) are not like other diets. Because your body is not used to only having juices and liquids, your body will experience changes because of the juice diet. It’s very important that you prepare yourself for what you will need to do as well as what you will experience while on the juice diet. This way, you won’t be shocked or scared if you experience a “detox” symptom, such as headaches.
There are a variety of different juice diets on the market today too, so it’s very important that you prepare yourself so you can choose the right diet for you. Do your research on the different options available and then choose the one that provides the results and benefits you’re looking for.
Don’t: Overdo it.
It’s very important that you don’t take juicing to the extreme. It’s possible that your body will need other calories in order to function properly, so don’t continue the cleanse if your body is telling you not to. You will not be considered a quitter if you need to break the fast for a day or two in order to recalculate your juice diet to be healthy and safe. If you overdo it, you run the risk of seriously injuring your body, and that’s not something you want to do.
Do: Know the benefits.
There are many benefits of juicing, so you should know what the benefits are before you start so you can determine if the benefits interest you. According to Juice Crafters in LA, “You’ll look at feel younger, eliminate much of the physical stress your body undergoes from built up toxins, and you’ll destroy the free radicals that can lead to all different types of disease and decay.”
Don’t: Negate your progress.
A juice cleanse is meant to help your body get rid of the toxins and provide you with a way to get and stay healthy. Juice cleanses are done in spurts, such as three or five days. When the cleanse is over, it’s important that you eat a healthy diet. If you instead binge eat or eat a poor diet, you will negate the progress of the juice cleanse. There’s no benefit in doing the juice cleanse if you’re going to negate the progress, so be sure to have a healthy diet ready for you when you’re done with the cleanse.
Do: Give it at least one day.
A juice cleanse is not something you will be used to, and you may find yourself wanting to give up right away. It’s very important that you at least try to stick with the juice cleanse for at least one day. This will allow you to see what’s really involved, and then determine if it’s something you can handle for the full amount of time. You may find that it’s not something your interested in, or you may find that getting through that first day gave you the willpower to stick with it.
