Don't ever take your body for granted. To me, body is synomous for health. How you treat your body influences how you feel and in what way you eventually present yourself as a person. Don't be afraid of being superficial once in a while. It's not necessarily a bad thing.
By respecting your body, you respect yourself. When you respect yourself, others will follow lead and show respect for you as well. To further clarify my point about this whole Your Body Is Your Temple thing, which isn't quite the most original catchprase I must admit, I've listed 5 reasons as to why you should treat your body as your temple:
1. Many people, if not most, are very superficial (I am no exception, neither are you).
A healthy appearance will open many doors in life. Way more then you could ever even imagine! It's a nasty and horrible thing to say, but it's the truth.
2. A healthy and fit body will increase your confidence.
Being confident about yourself is considered very sexy. You'll increase the chances of a healthy love life by 120% by following the "your body is your temple" train of thought.
3. With a healthy body comes a clear mind and a happy spirit
Our mental health is not only determined by the psychology of our brain. We got a whole nerve system running through our arms, legs and torso. Every nerve in our body sends information to the brain about how we feel at any time of the day. If you smash your thumb with a hammer, the nerves will make sure your brain gets the message. That's why we often scream when such things happen.
Oh really?
Yeah, really. And the same thing goes for food and exercise. Visit Burger King everyday and your mind will suffer. This is quite unnoticable for the occasional sinner. For the hedonist in heart and soul, however, the mental strain will be quite considerable. You don't believe me? That's because you've probably been on the dark side of the moon your whole life and have no idea what a healthy mind really feels like. If you want to prove me wrong on this point, quit burger king for one year and we'll talk again.
4. You will live longer.
While this is not certain for everyone, (eg, you could get hit by lightning, or something), the odds are definitely in your favor when opting for the healthier lifestyle choices.
5. You will enjoy life longer
Why become 80 years old when you can only enjoy life half that time? Unlike many people think, the fun does not stop at the age of 40 or 50. Respect your body and life will be more enjoyable in many different ways!
This post was inspired by Kevin who has a personel weight loss blog called Weight Ladder. Kevin tagged me to write a 6 Word Memoir. Having done that in this post, it's now my turn to pass on the torch and tag five people myself! They are free to write their own 6 words memoir or do nothing. All that needs to be considered are these 5 tiny rules:
- Write your own six word (max) memoir. (I used 5: Your Body
- Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you want.
- Link to the person who tagged you in your post.
- Tag at least five more blogs.
- Leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play.
I invite the following bloggers to write their own 6 Word Memoir.
Do not let this list stop You from sharing your own memoir in the comments. A memoir's supposed to be a little phrase that describes a bit about the way you live your life. If I read something I like in the comments, I will publish it in one of the next posts. Or just share your opinion on what I've written. I'm sure some might disagree with a few of the things I've said =)
