Diet Plans

This is a guest post by Kim from the Weight Loser Blog.

For those that don’t know, Consumer Reports is a large, independent, and nonprofit publication that reviews and compares a wide range of consumer products and services. Consumer Reports also has their own testing labs and millions of dollars to spend each year testing and getting real feedback from real consumers.

Consumer Reports is probably best known for their reviews and testing of automobiles, but they also test loads of other products and services. Let’s take a look at a recent study they did on the best and worst diet plans. Here is their list of the top diet plans available:

Generally Good Diet Plans:

  1. The Volumetrics Eating Plan – Maximizes amount of food per calorie.
  2. Weight Watchers – Good for long term dieting.
  3. Jenny Craig's – High dropout percentage, but good results.
  4. Slim-Fast – Great for people that can’t cook and have little time.
  5. eDiets.com – Tons of customizable plans.

Generally Not So Good Diet Plans:

  1. The Zone Diet – Requires a lot of math and average weight loss was low.
  2. Ornish Diet – Very low fat vegetarian diet with had an extremely high dropout percentage.
  3. The Atkins Diet – Too restrictive for most, however many are less hungry on this diet.

If you are interested in losing weight and want to try out a diet plan, things can get complicated in a hurry. Hopefully these two lists will help you find the diet that is right for you and help you to shed some pounds!

overwight sickness

If you are currently very overweight, chances are good you are frequently experiencing some kind of chronic disease. Allow me to use my personal history as an example.

As a kid I used to live an extremely unhealthy lifestyle, drinking several sodas every day and eating fast food whenever I had the chance. I was so unhealthy and overweight I couldn’t even run a mile without having to take a break several times. I always was that kid in class with the serious immunity problems, sneezing all the time and snorting, annoying just about everybody around me. To think of it, it was actually kind of sad.

Now it's true that a lot of this could be caused by the several allergies which I’ve been carrying with me since my birth, but I am sure there's more to it than just that. You'll soon read why.

What is Hoodia and can it help Weight Loss?

Every now and then, some miracle supplement hits the headlines and seems to answer all our weight loss prayers. Often these supplements are labeled as ‘natural’ – which seems to make us take leave of our senses and think that, because it has been produced by nature, it must be safe. If only that were so!

Hoodia is a desert plant, a bit like a cactus, and grows in arid regions like South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, and Angola. Apparently, the Bushmen of the Kalahari Desert relied on hoodia for years as a way to suppress appetite when they were out in the desert so, when ephedra was banned a few years ago, Hoodia became its natural successor in the weight loss world.

Losing weight by eating in moderation

It is possible to come up with over a hundred different kinds of tips for weight loss. Some tips would be hard because they involve counting calories, while others are just easy guidelines, which when followed correctly, weight loss becomes easy. One of these simple weight loss concepts is to always eat in moderation.

This moderation concept is actually very important in just about any diet. If you eat to much, you will store excess energy in the form of fat. When you eat in moderation, you will burn all of the excess fat. It's really that easy. This moderation concept is at the same time the explanation for the large number of overweight people in the US. Many Americans just eat way to much!

What Would The Best Diet Plan Ever Look Like?
Diet Plans
Sun, Feb 3 2008

What would the best diet plan ever be like? Better than all the other diet plans, this diet plan would not require counting calories, wouldn't be strictly low carb, neither low fat or even high protein! The best diet plan ever is probably a natural diet plan.

That’s right; a diet doesn’t have to be difficult. It just has to be effective. All the popular diet plans such as the Atkins diet, Zone diet or the Perricone prescription require a lot of work and don't always guarantee results.

A Successful Diet Requires a Lifestyle Change

A big mistake many people make when starting a diet plan is that they don’t see the whole picture. A weight loss program is a health and fitness diet plan that affects your whole lifestyle. Many people don’t understand the importance of this concept to achieve effective and natural weight loss.

Diet plans are not just about cutting 200 calories a day nor about doing 30 sit-ups each morning. Though these things will certainly result in some weight loss overtime, there are many other aspects to consider when trying to achieve optimal weight loss.
